Waiting on the Lord
Hello girls, this week as I have been studying in Mosiah 18 - 24, from the Come Follow Me Manuel. I have been reading about the people of King Limhi, he was the son of wicked King Noah. They are the people that killed Abinadi the Prophet. I came across some scripture that really helped me realize, again, a profound Doctrine.
God does not always take away our burdens, but if we choose to turn to Him, He can make them easier to bear!
In Mosiah 21:13-15
In these verses, ( in a nutshell)the Laminites have been abusing the Nephites, so the Nephites decide to go to battle. They attack 3 different times, but are beaten down, and many killed by the Laminites each time. Why? You might ask. Because the Nephites in this part of the story are not very righteous, In fact they haven’t been keeping the commandments for a long time( remember, these are the people that killed a Prophet). Well finally they humble themselves, because they realize that the only one that can deliver them from the Laminites is God, and they haven’t been in much of a relationship with Him, for a long time. But, they repent, humble themselves and plead with the Lord to deliver them.
Well the Lord is slow to hear there cry’s, why?, you might ask, in Verse 15, we get that answer, because of there iniquities ( in other words, He wants to make sure they are sincere in there repentance), ( they did kill His Prophet, after all). But the point is, He did hear there prayers, and answered them, He softened the hearts of the Laminites, so they were nicer to the Nephites. But, and this is a big but, The Lord did NOT take there burdens completely away, He just made them easier to bear.
Now why didn’t He just take away the problem?, He could you know. Well there are certain things that we learn best as we have to struggle and God loves us, and wants what is going to help us be the best person we can be.
So fast forward to today. The big C words, Covid-19, or Coronavirus. Why doesn’t the Lord just take it away? It’s what we are all praying for, we have had 2 special fasts for Relief ( and a 3rd, if you accepted the Pope’s invitation to Fast this week) The Lord could take it away, but maybe that’s not what’s best for all of us. Maybe there are things we need to learn here about turning to God, and having this burden made lighter, while we patiently wait on Him to bless Doctors and researchers with vaccines and a treatment that works. So my question for you, my sweet girls, really a question for all of us is this. Have we turned to the Lord or turned away, to the world? Have we asked for our burden to be made lighter, as we learn to patiently wait on the Lord and trust in His timing? If not, maybe the Lord is trying to help us learn some things here, we have to choose, if we will let Him teach us. What will you CHOOSE to do?
I testify to you, if you will turn to the Lord, He will lighten this burden as you patiently “ Be Still” and know that He is God, He is in complete control, nothing has gone amiss, Trust Him, Turn to Him, He loves you, more then you can possibly understand on this earth.
