Perspective

       Today is Mother’s Day. It’s a lot different then other years. Normally the kids all come over, we have dinner, play games, have a fun evening. This year, because of Coronavirus, no one comes.
But, all have either called or sent a message.
      Life is so different going through this Pandemic. We went for a ride the other day, and the streets were empty. No one goes out. All Church Meetings are done via technology. It gets a little lonely.
       Tomorrow, Alan has to have neck surgery. Now normally, I would take him to the Hospital, wait in a waiting room, while the Doctors do the surgery, then stay with him, except to sleep at night, while he is in the hospital. Not this time! Because of the Pandemic, I will drop him off at the Hospital, then go home and wait for the Doctor to call and tell me how it went. The whole time he is in the Hospital I can’t go see him. He has to stay there all alone, with only Doctors and nurses to see him. It’s a little scary. But that is life, until they find a way to treat this disease and a vaccine 💉 for it, so we can prevent people from getting it.
        Our Government officials have loosened up restrictions for people to go out of there homes a little more and some businesses to re-open. ( The whole world shut down for the last 2 months here, and longer in other countries). People are going crazy!!!
        Even when the Government said it was ok for churches to reopen, the Prophet of God, President Russell M Nelson, the prophet and president of my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said our church will not reopen yet. Because he speaks with God, daily, I think he knows a lot more then the Government.  Many people are mad at him, for not reopening church, they don’t want to follow the prophet. For me, we will follow the Prophet. I trust him, I know he is Gods prophet for the whole world, not just our church.
      We have a song, we teach To our kids, from the time they are very young. It’s called Follow the Prophet. The words go like this:
       Follow The Prophet

  1. 1. Adam was a prophet, first one that we know.
    In a place called Eden, he helped things to grow.
    Adam served the Lord by following his ways.
    We are his descendants in the latter days.
  2. [Chorus]
    Follow the prophet, follow the prophet,
    Follow the prophet; don’t go astray.
    Follow the prophet, follow the prophet,
    Follow the prophet; he knows the way.
  3. 2. Enoch was a prophet; he taught what was good.
    People in his city did just what they should.
    When they were so righteous that there was no sin,
    Heav’nly Father took them up to live with him.
  4. 3. Noah was a prophet called to preach the word,
    Tried to cry repentance, but nobody heard.
    They were busy sinning—Noah preached in vain.
    They wished they had listened when they saw the rain.
  5. 4. Abraham the prophet prayed to have a son,
    So the Lord sent Isaac as the chosen one.
    Isaac begat Jacob, known as Israel;
    Jacob’s sons were twelve tribes, so the Bible tells.
  6. 5. Moses was a prophet sent to Israel.
    He would lead them to the promised land to dwell.
    They were slow to follow, or so it appears.
    They were in the wilderness for forty years.
  7. 6. Samuel was a prophet chosen as a boy.
    Hannah promised God her son would serve with joy.
    In the tabernacle, Samuel heard his name;
    He was called by God and answered, “Here I am!”
  8. 7. Jonah was a prophet, tried to run away,
    But he later learned to listen and obey.
    When we really try, the Lord won’t let us fail:
    That’s what Jonah learned deep down inside the whale.
  9. 8. Daniel was a prophet. He refused to sin;
    So the king threw Daniel in the lion’s den.
    Angels calmed the lions, and the king soon saw
    Daniel’s pow’r was great, for he obeyed God’s law.
  10. 9. Now we have a world where people are confused.
    If you don’t believe it, go and watch the news.
    We can get direction all along our way,
    If we heed the prophets—follow what they say.

Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, don’t go astray,
Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, he knows the way
